Lord Mayor's Message

It's an honor to represent the people of Port Vila as Lord Mayor. Under my administration. Council is getting things done and delivering for you. We are focused on improving our financial stators and delivering equitable and effective services. We're getting on with the job of ensuring and safety environmental and society for all. We're working to build a stronger economy with a development plan that will increase our City's GDP over the net 8 years and we're rolling out the most ambitious community developments and environmental agenda in our City's history. I would like to invite us all to "Commit for a better Port Vila City together"

Pacific City Forum in Port Moresby- PNG 19th - 23th May 2014

Hon. Ulrich Sumptoh, City Mayor of Port Vila is elected Chairman of Pacific City Council Forum at Port Moresby, PNG  It is Interesting and beneficial achievement for Port Vila City. This position is for 2 years.

Port Vila is the capital and largest city of Vanuatu

It's population in the last census (2009) was 44,040 an increase of 50% on the previous census result (29,356 in 1999). In 2009. the population of Port VIla formed 18.8% of the country population.

Situated on the south coast of the island of Efate, in Shefa Province. Port Vila is the economic and commercial centre of Vanuatu. The current Lord Mayor is Hon. Ulrich Sumptoh, elected in January 2014 his deputy is Hon. Leimara Malachi (Ms).


The PMVC has just launched its first new letter pamphlet. This new letter is one of the first kind in Vanuatu and the region. The newsletter will be distributed to all residents, business communities in Vanuatu, all local authority institutions in the country and regionally, Non- governmental organisations, and international donor institutions established in the country. New issues will be out every two months, which means there will be 6 issues annually. advise, educational awareness and to give us an update on the progress of the work done so far. This first edition of our news letter will be made available bu end of this month, June 2014.
